Sunday 9th June saw our Women & Girls team secure their first win of the season.

A warm welcome from Sam Smith and her team at Stockport CC was in sharp contrast to the bitterly cold, wet and windy conditions.

Fielding first, an excellent all round bowling and fielding performance enabled us to restrict the home team to 287. Special mention to Holly Clarke who was her usual athletic and committed self despite nursing a broken finger.

When our turn came to bat, our opening pair of Saima and Mamoona progressed our score steadily towards our target.

The fireworks came from 2nd pair Fran and Sandra who added a brilliant 44 from their 4 overs. Fran was outstanding in scoring 32, whilst Sandra unselfishly ensured that Fran had as much of the strike as possible.

Our 3rd pair of captain Becca and Emma moved us further forward despite an unfortunate injury to Becca.

Our final pair of Torrill and Holly then saw us home by 4 runs.

After the game, our hosts very kindly provided refreshments in the form of scones, jam and cream which were very well received.

A great game played in great spirit by 2 closely matched teams.

It's fair to say that a tremendous performance with both bat and ball by player of the match Fran was the difference between the sides. Truly a FRANtastic day (sorry couldn't resist it).
