Friday evening saw our u13 team play away at Woodford with the game promising much with it being a local derby.

Things started well with captain Zeb Khan winning the toss. The decision to bat first appeared to be correct as Crichton and Edwards opened putting on 37 in the first 5 overs before Crichton fell lbw which allowed our captain to stride to the crease.

Both Edwards and Zeb Khan retired not out for 25 providing a great platform to press home an early advantage. However the early season pitch showing inconsistent bounce saw the remaining members of the team help the club post 125-7 off the 20 overs. Hopefully a challenging total for the opposition to chase.

The reply didn't start well for Woodford with a run out in the first over leaving them 1-1. Things didn't get better with wickets falling regularly to leaving them 10-4 off 5 overs.

A mini recovery ensued before Edwards was brought on to bowl. A tidy start to the over saw 3 byes and a dot but did not foretell the scenes to come. Fourth ball saw a clean bowled batter with the fifth having the same result. So, final ball of the over saw a hat trick possibility. Steadying himself Edwards started his run up fixed on the nervous batter at the other end. Given the game he was having it is no wonder that the hat trick ball was successful sparking jubilant scenes from our boys.

The result was never really in doubt from early on with Woodford only managing 45 all out in 13 overs.

There was no doubt about the man of the match although it was a proficient team performance from our u13. Two wins from two games so far and things are looking good.
